On January 8, 2025, former Federal President of Germany, Christian Wulff, visited one of the Ghanaian branches of the German company AmaliTech in Accra during his trip to meet Ghana’s newly elected president, John Mahama. Despite being founded as recently as 2019, AmaliTech has rapidly become one of the largest tech companies in Ghana, with a mission to create sustainable tech jobs in sub-Saharan Africa.

AmaliTech is a committed partner of the UN initiative “Decent Jobs for Youth,” with a pledge to train more than 3,000 individuals in Ghana and Rwanda by the end of 2025 and create at least 1,000 jobs. The IT talents acquire the skills needed to succeed in the global tech industry while providing international companies with high-quality IT and digital services through remote work. To date, AmaliTech has trained over 2,000 individuals through its training programmes and has created over 500 jobs at six global locations. Operating as a social business, AmaliTech reinvests surplus into projects that bring technology closer to children, women, and persons with disabilities.

“I am truly impressed that so many young, IT-trained professionals in Ghana are working for a German company. I have clearly seen how this benefits both Germany and Ghana. This is an absolute success model,” praised Christian Wulff. He continued, “Ghana is a country with a strong education system and many motivated young individuals. Meanwhile, Europe’s young population is declining sharply. We need the exceptional training and talent of young Ghanaians to drive innovation in our companies. This is a win-win situation for Ghana and Germany.”

The former Federal President also emphasized that AmaliTech contributes to economic growth in both Ghana and Germany without fostering talent migration from Ghana.

Ghana, the third-largest economy in West Africa, is often celebrated for its political stability. This February, AmaliTech will officially open its third office in Kumasi, Ghana to further support local economic growth and bridge the gap between African tech talent and international businesses seeking sustainable solutions to their skilled labor shortages.

AmaliTech is supported through the Digital Skills Accelerator Africa (DSAA) e.V. by the Special Initiative “Decent Work for a Just Transition” of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Under the Invest for Jobs brand, the Special Initiative aims to team up with companies to create good jobs and training opportunities as well as to improve working conditions in currently eight partner countries in Africa.
