AmaliTech Celebrates Office Inauguration in Rwanda

AmaliTech proudly inaugurated its office in Rwanda on August 16, 2024, marking a significant milestone in the company’s journey. The event also highlighted the expansion to a larger facility, underscoring AmaliTech’s commitment to fostering digital inclusion and supporting young tech talent in the region. This new office symbolizes a major step forward in AmaliTech’s mission to drive growth, diversity, and innovation across the African tech landscape.

AmaliTech equips African youth with essential digital skills through a free 6-month training program, allowing graduates to join the AmaliTech Service Centre, which delivers digital services to global clients while supporting ongoing training and social projects. Through collaboration with the non-profit association Digital Skills Accelerator Africa (DSAA) – which is supported by Invest for Jobs, the Special Initiative “Decent Work for a Just Transition” of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) – AmaliTech has successfully trained nearly 80 graduates, placing a strong emphasis on diversity and women’s empowerment. All of the graduates have secured jobs, underscoring the effectiveness of the program in shaping careers and solidifying Rwanda’s reputation as a hub for digital talent.

The inauguration was officially opened by AmaliTech CEO Martin Hecker, Ambassador Heike Uta Dettmann, of the Federal Republic of Germany to Rwanda, and Yves Iradukunda, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of ICT and Innovation. The event was also graced by  Dr. Ignace Gatare, Principal of UR, College of Science and Technology; Dr. Charles Lebon Mberi Kimpolo, Director of AIMS Industry Initiative and Head of Next Einstein Forum (NEF); Charlotte Umutoni Karera, CEO of Rwanda Global Business Services; Jean Claude Mutabazi, Head of Deal Accelerator Division at RDB; Derrick Murengezi, Manager of Operations at The Gym; Fanny Colombe, COO of Ojemba; Sandra Umulisa, Sector Analyst at RDB; Ariane Masabo, Digital Advisor from GIZ; and Sandrine Iradukunda, Technical Advisor, Joel Rugagi, Senior Account Manager at Harambee.

Martin Hecker said, “Africa represents the future of technological development, and Rwanda, with its stability and forward-looking vision, was a natural choice for us. We aim to position Rwanda as a leading technology hub, leveraging the latest advancements in AI and cloud computing to drive transformative change in the sector.”

He also commended the Rwandan government for fostering a business environment that has been a catalyst for growth in the software services and Global Business Services (GBS) sectors, emphasizing the invaluable support from the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) in enabling AmaliTech’s success and expansion.
