What does your everyday working life at AmaliTech look like?

My name is Xavier Rucahobatinya, and I am working as a Software Developer at AmaliTech in Kigali, Rwanda. Every day, I start working at 9 am, and first go through the communication tools we use to check the messages I have (e.g., e-mails, Slack, Microsoft Teams), followed by the ones we use in development, especially GitHub or Postman. Finally, I check the project management tools, like Jira, to keep track of the tasks in progress and the respective timelines, as well as new tasks, and I start working on my projects. Most of the time, I work on Backend Development.

In our daily standup meetings, we talk about what everyone has done, what we are still working on, if we are facing some challenges, etc. The rest of the day consists of working on my tasks and possibly attending other meetings.

What do you like best about working at AmaliTech?

There are many reasons why I like working at AmaliTech. As a developer, I enjoy working on projects that can challenge me, and I like to find solutions for those challenges. Moreover, I appreciate the opportunity for growth – you have time to upskill, learn, and work with colleagues who can support you.

What are your personal/professional goals (at AmaliTech)?

My first goal as a developer at AmaliTech is to deliver fully functional products. Together with my colleagues, I aspire to give my best to develop good products. Another goal is to help other young developers who are still in training, to become good software developers in the future, either at AmaliTech or outside AmaliTech.
